Xbox Ulitmate To Offer Blu-Ray Option

Reuters recently interviewed Albert Penello who is the group marketing manager for Microsoft's Xbox Hardware division. In that interview he commented that Microsoft are at least mentally preparing a Blu-Ray option for the Xbox 360 if HD-DVD fails:

"It should be consumer choice, and if that's the way they vote, that's something we'll have to consider," said Penello. "I fundamentally don't think this has a significant impact on Xbox 360 versus PS3."

This must have come after the Warner Bros' news as prior to CES they said they had "absolutely no plans to support other optical formats (than HD-DVD).

And it looks like Paramount may also switch to Blu-Ray according to the FT.

Let's hope it doesn't delay the launch of the Xbox Ultimate seeing as it offers so many great features.
